Privacy Policy

MorselMemo respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when providing food logging, photo recognition, nutrition estimates, and Apple Health sync.

Updated:June 18, 2026

Scope and Contact

  • This policy applies when you use the MorselMemo app and its related backend services.
  • MorselMemo currently does not provide account registration or login. We do not ask for phone numbers, contacts, precise location, identity documents, or other information unrelated to core features.
  • If you have questions about personal information processing, or want to access, correct, delete, or withdraw authorization, contact us at support@morselmemo.cn.

Information We Process

  • Food log information: food names, serving sizes, calories, nutrition estimates, notes, meal types, and record times that you enter, save, or edit.
  • Images and recognition information: photos used for food or nutrition label recognition, plus recognition instructions you provide. These are used only to complete the current recognition, regenerate results, or create records, and are not kept as long-term server-side user profiles.
  • Device and user identification information: the app-generated installation ID, App Attest device verification materials, key IDs, and verification results used to confirm requests come from a real app installation and to reduce abuse and attacks.
  • Purchase and entitlement information: App Store transaction IDs, product IDs, subscription status, purchase or restore results, and AI usage records used to confirm paid benefits, restore purchases, handle refund-related changes, and troubleshoot purchase issues.
  • Health-related information: after you grant permission, the app may read active energy, resting energy, and similar Apple Health data, and may write food calories and nutrition estimates when sync is enabled.
  • Estimate inputs: when Apple Health data is unavailable, you may choose to enter sex, age, height, and weight locally to estimate resting energy reference values.
  • Error and security logs: to troubleshoot issues and protect service security, the backend records device registration status and necessary error information with controlled log scope.

Purpose and Necessity

  • Food logs and nutrition estimates help you track meals, view daily budgets, and understand nutrition target progress.
  • Daily budgets, nutrition targets, and calorie references are for everyday display and are not used for diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice.
  • Images and extra instructions are used for AI food recognition, nutrition label parsing, and result correction. If you do not use photo recognition, you can still manually log food.
  • Device and user identification information protects service security and helps prevent forged requests, abuse, attacks, or bypassing interface limits.
  • Purchase and entitlement information is used to verify App Store transactions, sync and restore Pro subscriptions, avoid duplicate handling, revoke entitlements after refunds, and troubleshoot purchases.
  • Apple Health information is used only after you grant permission and enable the relevant feature. Turning off permission or sync may disable those features without affecting other food logging features.
  • We do not use this information for advertising profiles, personalized ads, unrelated marketing, unrelated data mining, or selling personal information. Purchase and entitlement information is not used for ad tracking.

Sensitive Information and Apple Health

  • Food logs, nutrition estimates, estimate inputs, and Apple Health data may be health-related or sensitive personal information. We process them only as needed for food logging, target calculation, calorie references, and health sync.
  • Apple Health data is managed by iOS HealthKit. You can view, manage, or revoke permission at any time in the Health app or system settings.
  • MorselMemo does not use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, credit evaluation, data brokerage, resale, or purposes unrelated to health sync.
  • AI recognition and nutrition estimates may be inaccurate. Results are only for everyday record reference and are not medical, nutrition diagnosis, or treatment advice.

Third-Party Services and Sharing

  • Food recognition and nutrition label parsing may call third-party large language model services. To complete recognition, we submit necessary images, text, and recognition context to the model service.
  • Third-party model services are used only to complete recognition and parsing requests. We do not actively sell personal information to third parties or share food logs or health data for advertising profiles.
  • We may provide necessary information when required by laws, regulations, regulators, judicial procedures, or when needed to protect users or service security.
  • If we add new third-party services or materially change sharing in a way that may affect your rights, we will update this policy or notify you in the app in a reasonable way.

Retention

  • Local food logs, nutrition targets, and settings are stored on your device until you delete records, uninstall the app, or clear the related data.
  • Images, text, and recognition context needed for photo recognition and nutrition label parsing are processed only as needed for that request and are not kept as long-term server-side user profiles.
  • Device installation IDs and registration records are kept while needed for service security and later request verification. Old records may be replaced or cleaned when records expire, services clean data, or you reinstall and register again.
  • Purchase transactions, subscription status, and AI usage records are kept for a reasonable period needed to confirm paid entitlements, restore purchases, handle refunds, and satisfy audit needs.
  • Necessary error logs are kept for a reasonable period needed for troubleshooting and service security.

Your Choices and Controls

  • You can delete local food logs in the app and change or turn off nutrition targets, health sync, and related settings.
  • You can revoke Apple Health permission in the Health app or system settings. After permission is revoked, MorselMemo cannot continue reading or writing the corresponding health data.
  • You can use Restore Purchases in the app to refresh App Store entitlements. Subscription cancellation, refund requests, and payment method management are handled through Apple's App Store process.
  • You can email support@morselmemo.cn to request access, correction, or deletion of related information, or to ask about personal information processing.
  • Because MorselMemo currently does not provide accounts, we may need necessary information to confirm that a request relates to a specific device or record. We will handle your request within a reasonable period.

Minors

  • MorselMemo is not specifically intended for children under 14.
  • If you are a minor, use this app with guardian consent and guidance, especially when using photo recognition, health data sync, or feedback.
  • If a guardian believes a minor has provided related information without consent, please contact us using the contact method in this policy.

Security and Updates

  • We take reasonable technical and management measures to protect related information, including device verification, access control, sensitive content redaction, and error log scope control.
  • Because the internet is not absolutely secure, we cannot guarantee that transmission and storage are risk-free in all circumstances. If a security incident may affect your rights, we will handle and notify as required by law.
  • We may update this policy due to product features, laws and regulations, or service adjustments. Material changes will be announced through the app, website pages, or other reasonable methods.
